Americans for Responsible Solutions Endorses Tom Suozzi for Congress

Glen Cove, NY: Today, Americans for Responsible Solutions, endorsed Tom Suozzi for Congress. The organization was founded by former Congresswoman Gabby Gifford and, her husband, U.S. Navy captain and astronaut Mark Kelly to “encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership.”

During today’s announcement, the organization released a statement from Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly, which said, "We are proud to support Tom Suozzi, a champion for the vocal majority of New Yorkers who are calling for bipartisan action to help prevent gun tragedies. We know that Tom will be a strong voice in Congress for closing the dangerous loopholes in our laws that put our communities at risk, for saving lives, and for making our communities safer. We need more leaders like Tom – leaders who will protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners like us, stand up to the Washington gun lobby, and stand up for common sense. We look forward to having Tom as a bipartisan and pragmatic voice for responsibility in Congress."

“I’m honored to receive this endorsement,” said Suozzi, “Gabby and Mark are doing wonderful work to find solutions to a growing problem in our country by bringing people from across the political spectrum together to advance common sense reforms that respect the Second Amendment and seek to reduce gun violence.”

This Saturday, September 24th, Tom Suozzi will hold a roundtable discussion on gun reform that will bring together different viewpoints on the issue to discuss how we can work together on sensible solutions. The event will be held at the Huntington Public Library, 338 Main Street, Huntington at 12, noon.

The 3rd Congressional District covers northern portions of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Steve Israel, who announced his retirement from Congress earlier this year. The election is on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
